DARE TO DREAM

“We grow great by dreams. All big men are dreamers. They see things in the soft haze of a spring day or in the red fire of a long winter’s evening. Some of us let these dreams die, but others nourish and protect them; nurse them through bad days till they bring them to the sunshine and light which comes always to those who sincerely hope that their dreams will come true.” Thomas Woodrow Wilson

Thomas Woodrow Wilson was the 28th President of the United States. Wilson was over ten years of age before he learned to read. His difficulty reading may have indicated dyslexia. But as a teenager he taught himself shorthand to compensate.] He was able to achieve academically through determination and self-discipline. Wilson worked very hard and eventually became an intellectual with very high writing standards. He even went on to become a leader of the Progressive Movement and even served as President of Princeton University.

It would be tough to say that Wilson was one of our better Presidents. Many thought of him as racist. The point that I want to make with this is here is a man that had severe problems reading goes on to become the president of one of the most prestigious universities in the US and also becomes President of the US. How does someone do that? I would suppose that you need to have some pretty big dreams.

Its dreams that help us to become what we want to be. It is dreams that help to something bigger than us. It is through dreams we are who we are today.

Do you like to dream? What type of things do you dream about? Do you dream of changing the world? Do you dream of world peace? Do you dream of having that beautiful house down by the beach?

A great leader always has great dreams. Whether they are dreams to change the world they live in or just to change what may seem like an insignificant part of their life.

I would encourage you to take a minute to just close your eyes for a few minutes, clear your head and just dream a little.
